This article aims to describe the function of expressive
speech acts in the lyrics of popular Arabic songs. The
lyrics of the Magadir song sung by Talal Maddah and
Nur Al-'Ain, sung by Amru Diab, were used as data
sources. The data was collected using the uninvolved
conversation observation method. Also, data analysis
was carried out by tracing the qualitative analysis
proposed by Miles and Huberman. The research
findings show that expressive speech acts in the song
lyrics of the data sources are broadly divided into
expressions of sadness and joy. These two
expressions are built in the context of the speaker and
lover's love relationship. From the data analysis, it was
found that there were 5 functions of expressive speech
acts that were more detailed: complaining (3);
disappointed (2); hope (1); praise (3); sure (2).
