This paper discusses one of school contained in a
literary work that is the school of realism. A school of
literature usually appears preceded by another school
and is usually followed by a new school as a counter
to the previous school. The purpose of this paper is to
determine the form of the school of realism and its
influence on literary works. The school of realism is a
literary school that seeks to describe an object as it is
(realistic), not as it is. This school initially appeared in
France and began to touch the Arab world, especially
Egypt in the 20th century. There were many Egyptian
writers who were influenced and produced realist
Arabic literary works, one of which was Najib Mahfuz.
