History of Shaut Al-Maktabah: Jurnal Perpustakaan, Arsip dan Dokumentasi

Shaut Al-Maktabah: Jurnal Perpustakaan, Arsip dan Dokumentasi is a scholarly journal published by the Diploma III (D3) Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. Established in 2009, the journal has served as an academic platform for disseminating research findings, scholarly studies, and theoretical developments in the fields of Library Science, Archives, Documentation, and Information Studies.

Since its establishment, Shaut Al-Maktabah has been committed to supporting the advancement of knowledge by providing a forum for researchers, academics, librarians, archivists, and information professionals to publish scientific works related to libraries, archives, documentation, and information management. The journal is published twice a year, in June and December, and primarily publishes articles in Indonesian.

Through continuous improvements in editorial management, publication standards, and digital accessibility, Shaut Al-Maktabah continues to strengthen its role as a scientific publication platform at both national and international levels.

Key Milestones

June 2009
Shaut Al-Maktabah was first established and published by the Diploma III (D3) Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. Since its first publication, the journal has focused on publishing research and scholarly discussions related to Library Science, Archives, Documentation, and related information fields. The journal has consistently published two issues annually as part of its commitment to supporting academic communication and knowledge dissemination.

June 2017
Shaut Al-Maktabah fully transitioned to the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. This transition marked an important development in the journal’s publication management system by improving the efficiency of manuscript submission, peer review, editorial workflow, and online accessibility for authors, reviewers, and readers.

August 2019
Shaut Al-Maktabah submitted an application for accreditation through the Science and Technology Index (SINTA), a national accreditation system for scientific journals in Indonesia. The accreditation process was initiated as part of the journal’s efforts to improve quality standards, enhance visibility, and strengthen recognition within the academic community.

January 2020
Shaut Al-Maktabah successfully obtained SINTA 5 accreditation. This achievement demonstrated the journal’s commitment to maintaining academic quality, improving editorial standards, and providing meaningful contributions to research and development in the fields of Library, Archives, Documentation, and Information Studies.

February 9, 2023
Under the management of a new editorial team, Shaut Al-Maktabah successfully maintained its SINTA 5 accreditation. This achievement reflected the journal’s continuous efforts to improve publication management, strengthen editorial practices, ensure the quality of published articles, and uphold academic integrity.

2024
Shaut Al-Maktabah reached Volume 16, Issue 2, marking more than a decade of continuous publication and contribution to the academic community. Throughout its publication history, the journal has continued to develop in accordance with scientific publishing standards and remains committed to disseminating high-quality research in Library Science, Archives, Documentation, and Information Studies.

2026
Based on the Decree of the Director General of Science and Technology, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 355/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026 concerning the New Accreditation Ranking of Scientific Journals for the Third Period of 2025, Shaut Al-Maktabah: Jurnal Perpustakaan, Arsip dan Dokumentasi successfully maintained its accreditation status at SINTA 5.

This achievement reflects the journal’s continuous commitment to improving editorial management, maintaining publication quality, implementing good scientific publishing practices, and strengthening its contribution to the development of Library Science, Archives, Documentation, and Information Studies.
