Al-Ma'arif Journal: Islamic Library and Information Science is a high-quality open access peer-reviewed research journal published by the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Imam Bonjol State Islamic University Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The focus is to provide readers with a better understanding of Islamic Library and Information Science regarding plurality and life values in Indonesian and Southeast Asian society by publishing articles and research reports.
Al-Ma'arif Journal specializes in the field of Islamic Library and Information Science in Indonesia and Southeast Asia and aims to communicate original research and relevant current issues. This journal welcomes contributions from scholars from related disciplines. Al-Ma'arif Journal has been available online since 2021 and is indexed in Google Scholar.
The main aim of the Al-Ma'arif Journal is to facilitate scientific and professional discussions regarding the latest developments in Islamic Library and Information Science relating to plurality and the values of life in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. This journal covers various important topics in this field, including Islamic library management, collection development, information literacy from an Islamic perspective, and the application of information technology in Islamic libraries. Apart from that, this journal also discusses issues such as the preservation and conservation of Islamic library materials, library services in the context of Muslim communities, as well as the development of digital libraries and Islamic electronic resources. Aspects of information ethics in Islam, the history of Islamic libraries, and studies of Islamic library users are also an integral part of the scope of this journal. Through this diversity of topics, Al-Ma'arif Journal seeks to provide comprehensive insight into various aspects of library and information science in an Islamic context.
Publishing articles in Indonesian and English, this journal seeks to expand the discourse of Islamic Library and Information Science in Indonesia and Southeast Asia to access a wider range of contributors and readers throughout the world. This journal welcomes contributions from academics, library practitioners, researchers, and students who are interested in the intersection of library and information science with Islamic values and principles.
As a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge, Al-Ma'arif Journal aims to advance understanding of the role of libraries and information in contemporary Muslim society, as well as contribute to the development of library practices that are in harmony with Islamic values. Novelty and up-to-date issues are a priority in publishing, covering various approaches in the study of library and information science covering various perspectives, including Islamic management, information technology, socio-cultural, historical, ethical, and user studies, all of which are applied to understand and develop library practices and information in the context of Islamic values and society.
